"I'm a huge fan of the well-crafted narrative."

“ A work of art should speak for itself. I can harp on for days about craft and process, but if I feel compelled to explain the point of my latest efforts then I've probably botched it.”

j.h.nelson received a MFA in sculpture in the late 70’s and has spent the last forty-odd years working in the construction, film and museum business. He began painting oils on canvas on a (relatively) small scale in 2003 after years of painting and designing large backdrops and scenery for stage, theater and film. Presently he maintains a painting studio in Nashville Tennessee and is an exhibit specialist for the local, regional and national arts and museum industry. His current work is informed by the written works and personal myths of Flannery O'Connor, Sir Terence Pratchett and Kurt Vonnegut.
